Woodstock resident Bill Weeden, star of “Psycho Ape!” (2020) and its sequel
“Psycho Ape: Part II - The Wrath of Kong” (2023), will be in attendance as both
films are screened during a double feature the evening of November 4 at the
Tinker Street Cinema in Woodstock.
The surreal horror comedies have both been acclaimed by myriad online critics.
The original “Psycho Ape” garnered such reviews as:
“Psycho Ape! is made by people who love movies and everything that makes
them fun. And fun this film is, laugh-out-loud fun. Bill Weeden brings wild-eyed
zoologist Dr. ZOOmis to gleeful life.” - Without Your Head
“If you’re wondering about how an ape manages to kill people with a banana,
you’re not doing this right. Psycho Ape! doesn’t color outside the lines because it
has no lines.” - Film Threat
The sequel received similar raves:
“The best film of 2023!” - Horror Home School
“The charm of Psycho Ape II lies in its self-awareness. The film constantly breaks
the fourth wall, but it does so in a manner that feels fresh and engaging. Weeden
proves once again that he’s a comedic genius.” - CineDump
Both films are the brain children of filmmakers Addison Binek and Greg DeLiso!
Both films feature actor/filmmaker Kansas Bowling (“Once Upon a Time...in
Hollywood”) in the female lead.
The sequel includes cameos by Firesign Theatre and “Rugrats” stalwart Philip
Proctor and Weeden’s wife, stage and film actor Dolores McDougal.
